Leikur ist ein Schimmel wie aus einem Märchenbuch - groß und kräftig mit langer Wallemähne. Er verfügt über vier gute, leicht zu reitende Gänge und ist fein in der Hand. Sein Temperament ist im mittleren Bereich einzuordnen, fleißig, aber nicht zu flott. Leikur bietet viel Tölt an, hat einen schönen, weiten Trab und einen gut gesprungenen Galopp. Durch seine bequemen Gänge und sein freundliches Gemüt gibt er gutes, sicheres Reitgefühl.
