Merkur ist ein bildschöner, mit 1,52 m riesengroßer Fünfganghengst mit hoch-weiten Bewegungen. Er konnte bereits fünfjährig das Zuchtchampionat in Zachow gewinnen und überzeugte dann ein Jahr später noch mit seiner sehr hohen FIZO, bei der er mit der Gesamtnote 8,34 (Gebäude 8,48 und Reiteigenschaften 8,24) Elite gesamt und in beiden Teilbereichen wurde. Sein liebevoller Charakter kombiniert mit seinem sehr guten Gebäude und seinem herausragenden Tölt, sieht man bereits in seinen Nachkommen. Merkur wurde bereits sechsjährig von einem 13-jährigen Mädchen erfolgreich auf Turnier vorgestellt.
